In 2001, the Laguna II, an executive saloon that embodies 'lifestyle driving", entered production. It was an era of great innovation with various new equipment features which helped customers enjoy their vehicle to the maximum.

The occupants still had to use the keys to open and close their doors.  renault replacement key card  was a major issue for a lot of people and Renault engineers were determined to fix it.

The hands-free cards were first launched in 2001 on the Laguna II saloon, which was designed to be the 'lifestyle' car of the 21st century. Renault was unable to test all possible uses despite the detailed design guidelines that was based on over 6,000 interviews with customers.

Fortunately, the product manager on Laguna II, Bernard Dumondel, was staying in a hotel at the time, and used his room key to open his car. He was of the opinion that an automobile key could be created with the same magnetic strip that was used to make the key.

In the years to come the card was seen as an innovative invention and is now found on two of three Renault vehicles. While smartphones may be in the process of replacing it, Renault has chosen to take advantage of the new technology without letting the hands-free card fall to the side.

The keyless entry system

The hands free card of Renault was a ground-breaking piece of technology when it was introduced 20 years ago. Its design is identical, but the technology inside has seen some improvements to make it more secure and user-friendly. to hack.

First of all, it cannot be used to open the doors or start the engine from outside the vehicle unless it is activated by the driver. This is because radio antennae "around the car" are set up to determine whether the key is inside or outside. The key will still start the ignition from a distance but not unlock the doors. This is for your safety.

Second, the wireless remote control transmissions used by the system use a rolling-code. This decreases the risk of security being compromised by someone intercepting and retransmitting the control message to gain access but does not eliminate the risk altogether. [1]
